		Outstanding Division I Performances for the week of March 22-28    Outstanding Players: Top Division I players, week of March 22-28 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - BY NFCA STAFF| Melissa Coronado, University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL), Freshman right-handed pitcher from Pearland, Texas, struck out 16 batters in nine innings of work in picking up two wins this week over Florida International and Northwestern State...Allowed only one run on three hits...Against Northwestern State Thursday, Coronado struck out 10 in five innings of relief work...Currently 14-2 on season. This came after week where she struck out 34 batters in three outings at Kia Klassic last week. University of South Florida's Monica Triner, Senior, P, Gibsonton, FL/East Bay Triner threw a no-hitter against Elon College and shut out No. 18 Minnesota as well as coming on in relief to close the door on No. 18 Minnesota in another game, picking up the save. Triner struck out nine batters against Minnesota and only gave up five hits all week. Triner did not allow a runner to reach second base or beyond during the week and has lowered her season ERA to 0.64. Of the 53 batters she faced, only six reached base. Triner also hit a three-run home run against Elon and went 3-8 (.375) with four runs and six RBI and has paced USF on its current 8-game winning streak. Mississippi State's Kellie Wilkerson for player of the week. Went 7-for-13 (.538) with one double, one triple and four RBI. Had 10th, 11th and 12th multi-hit games of the year, and fifth multi-RBI games of the season as Bulldogs split with 10th-ranked South Carolina and swept Eastern Division leader Georgia. Also picked up two wins over weekend and one save, her fourth of year, which is a school-record. Pitched six scoreless innings, all in relief, allowing four hits with two walks and six strikeouts, evening her record on the season at 3-3. Mississippi State has now won last four meetings with Georgia dating to last year's conference tournament. Courtney Blades, Southern Mississippi, Junior, Pitcher, Baton Rouge, La. Courtney continued her remarkable season with six victories this weekend, including three in the final day, at the Georgia Tech Buzz Classic. Blades allowed just two runs, one earned run in her 39 innings of work. She struck out 75 batters in those 39 innings including 12 in her third game of the day Sunday in USM's 4-0 championship win over Maryland. Blades allowed just 13 hits in the tournament and hit .350 at the plate for the Lady Eagles with eight RBI, including the game-winner in the eighth inning against Northwestern. Blades currently has 320 strikeouts on the year and is just 67 K's away from becoming only the second junior (behind Cal's Michelle Granger) to acheive 1,000 strikeouts in her career before the end of her junior year.Blades has an overall record of 26-2 on the year with a 1.06 ERA, 11 shutouts and six no-hitters, including one perfect game. At the plate she is hitting .348 with seven homeruns and 44 RBI. Oregon's Katie Mackey, Senior DP, Red Bluff, California Katie played and started in all of Oregon's six games last week, hitting .615 (8-for-13) with four homeruns, five runs scored and 10 RBI. She was walked eight times and had a slugging percentage of 1.538 while striking out only once. In four Pac-10 games, Mackey batted .714 (5-for-7) with three runs scored, five RBI and two homeruns. She was walked six times and had a slugging percentage of 1.571 with no strikeouts. In a sweep of No. 3 Arizona State, Mackey batted .800 (4-for-5) with 4 RBI, including going 3-for-4 with two homeruns in a 8-1 win over the No. 3 Sun Devils. Missouri's leadoff hitter Stacy Gemeinhardt, junior outfielder, was one of the keys to Missouriís 5-2 record on their four-stop road trip this past week. The junior from Belton, MO, knocked out 10 hits and walked three times in 24 plate appearances, posting a .417 batting average anda .481 on-base percentage over the seven-game stretch. Stacy scored nine runs in those seven games including trhe game-winning runs in both of MUís victories over Oklahoma State on Sunday. The sweep of the Cowgirls in was the first ever for Mizzoui in Stillwater, OK. Gemeinhardt also picked up the game-winning hit vs. Tuls;a in a 3-2 victory. Her 14 total bases and .583 slugging percentage for the week were also tops on the team as Missouri improved to 26-12 overall. Southeast Missouri State's Jaymie Cowell, Sr., OF, Brazil, Ind.; Cowell batted .545 (6-for-11) with a 2B, HR and 4 RBIs in four games ... had a .909 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage as Southeast Missour State wins Saluki Invitational for second straight year. Michigan State junior pitcher Erica Strutz (Howell, MI) - Was 4-0, allowing one run in 22.3 innings pitched...10 strikeouts vs. Troy State...overall, 16-7 with a 1.82 ERA. Hofstra senior Keri Boller, first base (Bethpage, NY) - In six games, batted .474 (9-for-19) with three home runs, 13 RBI, one double, one triple and five runs scored. Vs. Connecticut, she hit a grand slam homer and a solo homer and knocked in five runs. Cal State Fullerton's Stephenie Little batted .500 (9 for 18) with 4 home runs and a double for a slugging percentage of 1.222. She ahd 5 rbi. Cal State Fullerton pitcher Jana Oetgen went 1-0 with an ERA of 0.00 in two starts (12.1 IP, 6 H, 5 BB, 11 SO) Catherine Davie (LF/Sr./Westlake Village, Calif.) Michigan senior left fielder Catherine Davie continued her solid play in the month of March, hitting her way to Most Valuable Player honors at the Purdue Boilermaker Classic (March 27-28). Davie hit .500 (6-for-12) over the Wolverines' four tournament games. Four of her hits were for extra bases -- two doubles and two triples -- helping her produce six RBI and score eight runs. The MVP award is Davie's second in three Boilermaker Classic tournaments (also in 1997). Davie's hot-hitting weekend pushed her season batting average to .406 and her extra-base hit total to 21 (14 doubles, three triples, four home runs). Stanford's Marcy Crouch; Senior; Right-Handed Pitcher; Huntington Beach, CA Started 6 games on the week, pitching 38.1 innings and giving up just one earned run (0.18 ERA) while going 4-1. She also had 21 strikeouts and only 8 walks. Her best outing was Mar. 23 vs. Portland State when she threw a nine-inning perfect game with 10 strikeouts. The perfect game was her third this season. The other two were five inning perfect games against South Carolina (Feb. 28) and Auburn (Mar. 5). In another game, she gave one earned run and three hits as she pitched all 7 innings in the 4-1 win at #1 Washington (Mar. 27). Her loss was at #1 UCLA as she gave up 6 hits while surrendering an unearned run in the 1-0 loss (Mar. 28). UCLA freshman pitcher Amanda Freed. Picked up her 14th and 15th victories of the season, improving to a perfect 15-0 on the year. Held No. 13 Cal to just two hits, giving up no earned runs, in UCLA's 3-1 game-two victory over the Golden Bears on Saturday. Also added four strikeouts and went 1-for-3 at the plate. Picked up her first save on the season in UCLA's 4-3 game-one victory over Cal. On Sunday, Freed kept UCLA's perfect season intact, knocking in the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the seventh on to defeat No. 7 Stanford 1-0 in game one. Started on the mound in game two, striking out six and allowing just one run in UCLA's 6-1 defeat of the Cardinal. Also went 1-for-3 with a run scored in game two. Owns a team best 0.58 ERA.
