Michigan Ranked 14th in First NFCA Weekly Poll
COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The first USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll weekly softball national ranking, released Wednesday (March 3) by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, has the University of Michigan listed at No. 14, down from a No. 5 ranking in the preseason poll.
Michigan, 7-5 after a pair of weekend tournaments and two single games, is the highest-ranked Big Ten Conference team in the latest poll. Minnesota (15-4) is No. 21 and Iowa (3-2) is listed No. 23. Michigan State is among teams receiving votes.
The Wolverines are in action Thursday through Sunday (March 4-7) at the Speedline Invitational hosted by the University of South Florida in Tampa. Michigan opens tournament play against Florida Atlantic University and Georgia on Thursday.
