Big Ten Champion Michigan Listed No. 5 in National Poll
COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Big Ten Conference softball champion University of Michigan will begin defense of its league tournament title carrying a No. 5 ranking in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Top 25 Poll released today (Wednesday, May 12). The Wolverines moved up one spot from last week's ranking.
Michigan (49-9-1, 21-3 Big Ten) remains the only Big Ten Conference team listed in this week's national ranking. Big Ten Tournament participants Minnesota, Michigan State and Iowa are among teams receiving votes.
The Wolverines, hosts and top seed for the Friday and Saturday (May 14-15) Big Ten Softball Tournament, play their first postseason game Friday at 4 p.m. against the winner of the Michigan State-Iowa play-in game.
